[The following history of Elbert Gordon Brown was dictated by his grandson Joseph Wallace Croft Jr.] Farmer. Celebrated 100 years as a family farm. Mules, pigs, horses, hound dogs. Plowed the farm with a mule. Grandma had a bell to call them in when dinner was ready. Quit farming and became Woodsmen of the World life insurance agent; you got a tombstone that looked like a tree trunk. Cattle buyer; bought them in the field and took them in the auction yard in his truck. Was President of local Fox Hound association. Elected county commissioner for a couple of terms. Deputy sheriff. Lived out on the farm until the 1950's. Moved to a small house down by the railroad tracks in Groesbeck, Texas.
